We convert any PDF into an accurate, fully-layered AutoCAD DWG or DXF. That includes flat PDF exports that have lost their layer structure, raster-scanned PDFs, and hand-annotated PDF markups. Every file is drafted by a human CAD operator — we do not use auto-tracing software, which is the single biggest reason cheap PDF-to-CAD services deliver unusable output.
PDF is how drawings travel today — between AE firms, between disciplines, from archives into renovation scopes. But a PDF is a picture of a drawing, not a drawing. Once you need to edit, dimension, or extend what's on the page, a flat PDF becomes a bottleneck. We rebuild the drawing as editable CAD so your team can work from it like any other DWG in your set.
There are three PDF flavours in the wild and they need very different handling. Vector PDFs exported from CAD still carry line geometry but usually lose layers, blocks, text styles, and dimension associativity. Raster PDFs — scans saved as PDF — have no vector data at all and must be redrafted. Mixed PDFs combine the two and often confuse automated tools. We inspect every file first, then draft accordingly.
Every file goes through the three-step QA process we apply to every drawing: scan inspection, overlay comparison, and CAD corrections. For PDFs specifically, we verify dimensional accuracy against any written dimensions in the source, rebuild the layer structure to your CAD standard (National CAD Standard, AIA, or your in-house system), and restore dimension styles, text styles, and blocks so the file feels native in your environment — not like an import.
Dimensional fidelity is the whole job. We size every drawing using written dimensions from the source. If written dimensions are missing, we flag it rather than guess, and cross-reference field measurements or neighbouring sheets. If a drawing has a scale mismatch or contradictory dimensions, we document it and raise it with you before finalising. No scale-trace shortcuts.
