Raster to Vector

Raster to vector CAD conversion

We convert raster drawings — TIFFs, JPGs, PNGs, scanned PDFs and microfilm scans — into layered, editable vector CAD. The deliverable is a dimensionally accurate AutoCAD DWG or DXF that matches the source, redrafted by a human operator rather than auto-traced. This is the right service when you have images of drawings but need real CAD geometry.

01

When buyers need it

Facility managers and AE firms inherit digital-looking files that are still just images: plan-room scans, archived TIFFs, raster PDFs. They can be viewed and printed, but not edited, dimensioned or built on. Raster to vector conversion turns the picture of a drawing back into a drawing.

02

Sources we accept

  • TIFFs, JPGs, and PNGs — any resolution we can verify for legibility
  • Scanned PDFs (raster-only, no vector data)
  • Large-format scans of blueprints, sepias and mylars
  • Microfilm and microfiche scans
03

Our approach

Every scan is rubber-sheeted before any CAD is drawn. We identify known control points — grid intersections, dimensions that appear on the source — and warp the image to correct for scan skew, paper distortion, and any inconsistencies. A human CAD operator then redrafts the geometry layer by layer, verifying each element against the source. The final CAD runs through our three-step QA process.

What you get back

  • Layered AutoCAD DWG or DXF
  • Dimensionally accurate against the source and any field-verified values
  • Discipline-separated layers (structural, architectural, MEP, civil)
  • An assumptions log for anything marginal or illegible
  • Optional plotted PDF set for review
